Oil lamps ... my first one

I am working on a dictionary right now,
one which deals with Renewable Resources and therefore I am reading
really a lot about that theme and I am wondering how much we are not
told, just because it would make industries earn less money.

I tried to find a "lucerna"
this is how people call these oil lamps here, but did not and being
quite an impatient personality I told myself: well let me try to make
it "my way" and if it works then I just make it more
perfect, because there is much more to this kind of lamps ... so the
first step now was to get that oil burning with what I have at home.
I took one of these small empty anchovis glasses and I put some oil
in it. I made a whole in the cover and put some kitchen paper in
there which serves to create the flame.

That was it: said and done, the lamp
burns. Of course you do not get much light out of this, but it is
like a candle – right now a bit ugly, but that can be helped. For
now it is functionality that interests me.

Looking at it: it can be at least used
to substitute a normal candle or those you put under your teapot to
keep it warm (don't know the terminology for it).

Hmmm ... and what if I just used a
normal teapot? Let me see ...

Well ... it works ... it looks a bit
like Aladin's lamp, I'd say ... same way of doing things: just
putting oil into the teapot and some kitchen paper into its opening
... now let me see how much oil this thingie uses :-) because just
now I had my next idea ... and if I told you without proofing that it
works you would call me crazy ... I bet I will make it work.
