Finland won silver... and so what?

Finland won this morning silver in women's rowing. So, what's the news?

Mr. Really Talented Swimmer had to swim his 8th gold so that he could do history... so what's my point?

I want to give you a point of view, which maybe you have not seen... if living in a country of big population. During the period of Olympic games, I feel all the time more stronger: thank Godness I'm a Finn. Thank Godness I come from minority. Thank Godness we re only 5 million. Now we have 3 medals - one of each type. But if I come from a big country I have to calculate: was there 55 or 73 golds now? What does it matter with the silvers and bronzes? When you get in the best situation more than 100 gold medals, is there any value in the "lower" medals? 

We have this term called "a sports country". Hmm... I hate it! ;-)

Is a "more populated country" more "sports country" than my small tiny 5 million folk?

There was yesterday very good example of great sportsman, when a shooter from Cyprus was trying to get the first medal ever for his own country. This time no luck, the 4th place. But maybe the next time.

I have nothing against the bigger countries, but I'm just wondering how do you appriciate your success. We Finnish people have a coffeeparty after all the medals. Every time there comes one, there is a party. Because we can... there does not come so many. So all the Team Finland will gather together and drink coffee (as we Finnish love coffee so much).

Here is again one reason, why I love my country and why i fight for less resourced cultures. :-D

My native tongue is alive and kicking. But there are many out there without help, sources and intrerest. 

So I will go and make my coffee and go on happily working... smiling because we got the silver. ;-)
