[Ambaradan] Grammar look up example (declination of a German noun with missing parts)
Image file Ambaradan UI 008:
Layout for the display of a German declination with some missing
entries. For further thoughts and considerations on POS/Grammar please
see the page Considerations on POS/Grammar below.*****Please note that the layout has been changed according to some notes I received. Therefore only the central part is to be considered. In image 009 the changes in the header on left- and righthandside are already there, but I did not describe them - will do this or tomorrow in the afternoon (if I have an hour or so) or on Thursday.
*****This part is work in progress.
POS and Grammar are among the most complex parts of Ambaradan. Each
language is unique and therefore each set of "grammar views" needs to
be adapted per language. Of course some bits and pieces among similar
languages are the same, but well: they are hardly ever "all the same".
For now we are not concentrating on having the grammar part ready
for September, but here we give just some "glance" to give an idea
about what is possible. Having this implemented will take quite some
time.
To get this going we need to collect how certain schemes (like for
example the declination of a German noun, or the conjugation of a verb
in whatever language) should be presented. If you wish to help with
that, please create just a file let's say for a typical noun
declination or verb conjugation or whatever in your language. It will
help us to present your language correctly. But please don't be
disappointed if we don't use things immediately. This will for sure
take time.*****Like always this is accessible through the following link:http://voxhumanitatis.org/content/ambaradan-elements-layout-discussion-ui
*****Good night :-)Sabine

Hi Francis, maybe it is better by private mail so we post it on VH under GPL license adding also a link to Apertium - so people can follow things without having all in their e-mail - or do you have these on your wiki somewhere?

Thank you Jimmy!I added the link to the page about POS/Grammar.Sabine
Hello Sabine & Berto,
I went through the 9 screens and I like the idea behind your design.
There were three things I thought about:
- about the localization options (using Virtaal) but this was mentioned in "Symbol usage in UI
- UI localization"
- about the concept of the grammar part but this was mentioned in "Considerations on
POS/Grammar". I will think of a lowest common denomiator
- about "doubles" in the menu e.g. 'image', 'video', 'audio' but this has also be addressed:
"Text about the function shall show up by hoovering over that symbols and buttons."
That leads me to the idea that everything is well-planned, well-considered and working as
Sabine already mentioned: "Everything is there, just start using it."
From my experience with CMS (I'm using Joomla; my wife swears by CMSMS) I know that you have a
lot of different menu types available. With CSS and module positioning you can easily put them
elsewhere.
Because I found a picture of Berto related to a Drupal forum on the internet I think we are
dealing with that software?
I usually make use of the possibility to publish menu items only where needed. That means that
not all items need to be available on each screen following your target to be clear and have a
clear structure. You mentioned also fold out menus.
Search history on left side = good idea. Probably it's good to have everything needed for
'work' should be on the left (search, editing, uploading...) and everything administrative on
the right side (login, partners, news...).
